100% Pashmina Casablanca, Morocco Adventures

Today’s adventure is in The Port of Casablanca, Morocco. This city is located in the western part of Morocco bordering the Atlantic Ocean, and is the largest city in Morocco. It is also one of the largest most important cities in Africa, both economically and demographically. It is known for its french colonial architecture, a blend of moorish style and european art deco. The language spoken here is arabic. Also this city is famous for the 1942 Humphrey Bogart film of the same name, with recreated Ricks Cafe, a popular site. Casablanca is a city for travelers who like to feel like locals, rather than tourists, and who really want to experience the present as well as learn about the past. It is more about discovering the hidden details this city has to offer, such as the architecture, arts/culture, and restaurant scenes. During my adventure today I spent a few hours wandering around downtown, in the Old Medina lined shops. To be honest just walking down the street here is an amazing experience, you take in so much of the culture by just wandering and observing. The clothing, the way they bargain with you for sales, the smells of so many different things, seeing the spices and the fresh fruit in barrels out in the streets, it truly is an experience to just observe your surroundings while making your way around. However I recommend take note of where you are walking, it seems easy to get lost in The Old Medina. Along my path I even noticed a woman wrapping her pashmina (scarf) around her head, I caught myself staring, but she smiled kindly back at me and it was a great feeling to know that she greeted me with a warm heart, as Im sure I could have come off rude to her by staring. These are the kind of places that really open my eyes, heart, and mind. I start to think about how I’m welcomed in another country with cultures very different then I am use to, and how truly blessed I feel to have those opportunities. I wasn't daring enough to try any of the food in the little street carts, but it was absolutely interesting to observe the locals go about their day and make purchases of the local cuisine and spices. After walking through the Medina, I decide to make a quick stop at the recreated Rick’s Cafe. I didn't have time to enjoy a meal Due to it being show day, so my adventure today was a bit rushed, but luckily I get to come back to this port a few times, so there is more time to continue the adventure in Casablanca. I’ll be sure to explore Hassan II Mosque, which I heard I will not be able to enter inside as a female, but I’ll certainly keep you updated on the experience and take some photos from outside. I’ll be sure to continue the adventure with a few more stops so please stay tuned here in Casablanca.
