Barcelona, Spain Adventure 1.0

Todays adventure is in The Port of Barcelona, Spain. This Port has a 2000 year history and is Catalonia’s largest port tying with Tarragona. It is ranked 6th busiest cruise port in the world. Today I decided to take a taxi to Basilica de la Sagrada Familia, which is the largest unfinished Roman Catholic church in the World.

(Designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, The Construction started in 1882 and is estimated to complete in 2026-2028 according to Wikipedia.)

The taxi ride is about 15 minutes from the port and around 18Euros to arrive. Sagrada Familia is a must see if you get to visit Barcelona, the detail and beauty is extraordinary and the pictures do not do it justice. (Keep in mind there is constant construction on the church which distracts from the beauty a bit/ also the best spot to get the best picture is from across the lake.) After visiting the church I stopped at a local coffee shop nearby for some espresso to continue the journey as I decided to walk back towards the port. (I feel exploring the city by foot is one of the best ways to truly take in the culture.) It was about a 45 minute walk with stopping in some shops and taking some pictures before making it back to the top of LA Rambla Boulevard. This street is the most famous tourist attraction, with lots of shopping and entertainment. Here I got to experience the catalan culture, see a bunch of street performers, beautiful architecture, explored some cute local shops/theaters, smelled some lovely flowers along the way, passed by the Museum de Cera, and even enjoyed a huge glass of sangria. Feel free to view the video of some of the beautiful sites I explored, and be sure to stay tuned for more exploring in this amazing city.
