One hour in Valletta, Malta and an Ice cream.
Today adventure is in the Port of Valletta, Malta. (Malta consists of three islands: Malta (the largest), Gonzo, and Comino, It is not part of Italy.) Valletta is the Tiny Golden capital of Malta and is known for its baroque architecture and fortified city walls that overlook the Mediterranean sea. It was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. It is known for museums, palaces, and grand churches. Today I did not have too much time to explore due to it being the last few days of this trip and packing still needs to be complete as well as I still have one final performance, But, I at least was able to make it to the heart of the city. We took The Barrakka lift (elevator) to the top, as mentioned its a walled city. Once at the top we saw a beautiful view of the Grand Harbour (Valletta Waterfront) and Saluting Battery, this is one of Malta’s most vibrant visitors attraction where history is brought to life daily. Wandering the streets, that are aligned in a grid-like layout, wide and straight, I was able to captured more pictures of some beautiful sites, like the bibliotheca, the Auberge de Castille, Church of Saint Catherine, and some other interesting historical buildings. (see pictures below) I even stopped for an Ice-cream and a magnet (As I collect magnets from each country I visit, currently at 73!) This city was darling, I’m sad I didn't have more time to explore the beauty it has to offer. Luckily I'll be coming back to Europe in the fall, and planning another stop in Malta, so I'll be sure to capture more photos and information to share about this stunning City, on that upcoming adventure.Â
