Whitewash Hillside Medina- Tangier, Morocco Adventure

Today’s adventure is in The Port of Tangier, Morroco. Tangier is known as the “gateway to Africa.” It’s located in the northern coast of Africa, at the western entrance to the straight of Gibraltar, where the mediterranean sea meets the atlantic ocean. It is not entirely Moroccan, European, or African; it is a mix of all three. Tangier is one of the most vibrant, mysterious, and intriguing cities in Morocco, it has that in which travelers love, mainly because of the less touristy feel. It has a reputation for inspiring shady deals and attracting foreign misfits, which makes Tangier home to all different kinds of adventures. This city is undergoing rapid development and modernization, including new tourism projects. Tangier’s economy is also set to benefit greatly from this new Tanger-med port. Unfortunately todays adventure was very low key, we did not venture too far from the port as is was raining and we only had a few hours to explore. A group of us found a local restaurant, called Ali Baba, with amazing Lebanese cuisine.(Av.Mohamed VI No A36, Tangier, Morocco) The price was extremely fair, the service was lovely, and the food was delicious. After enjoying brunch I wandered in a few shops on my walk back to the port, there are many interesting things to buy and for great prices. From 5$ pashminas to cute hand painted dishes, there is a variety of items in these shops. I purchased a Leather bookbag for 25$, keep in mind you can bargain with them here and they will not get offended (The price started at 35euro.) Also on the walk back we found a hidden gem patio which made for a few unique pictures, including tile floors, mosaic walls, beautiful rod iron designs, and some pretty plants to compliment the designs. Lastly, I captured some beautiful pictures of the Port Mosque which was right at the entrance, it was full of detailed designs on the doors, columns, and arch ways along with stunning marble floors. Also captured some nice pictures of the whitewash hillside medina. I wish we were going to come back to this port again as I would love to explore more, but unfortunately that is not the case. This is one of those cities where just walking down the streets you can truly experience the culture and lifestyle, so I feel lucky to have had the opportunity once. If I eventually come back to this city I have a few sites on my radar, the Kasbah, Dar el Makhzen (Former Sultans Palace,) and The caves of Hercules. Hopefully in the future I will be able to explore more of this city, but for now I hope you enjoy the video of this adventure.
